Short Boss

Akeem Smith aka ShortBoss

He is likened to a sumptious meal which leaves such an incredible taste fans just keep returning for another rich flavour.

He might be short in stature, but tall and full of everything which made him winner of the well-acclaimed Digicel Rising Stars competition in Jamaica 2017.

He came into the contest as a favourite and left the finals with a well-deserved crown of fame and fortune.

The judges felt he had one of the best vocals - smooth, silky, garnished, with the right song choices week after week.

But, this is just the tip of ShortBoss' journey to fame in Jamaica, the root of reggae music which produce such stars as the Marley's, Dennis Brown, Gregory Issacs, Bunny Wailer, Alton Ellis, Peter Tosh, Beres Hammond, and the list goes on.

ShortBoss is also an Ambassador for Just for Peace - a Spanish Town based outfit which holds the enviable accreditation of three Ambassador for Peace awards.

Just for Peace is endorsed by Governor General of Jamaica, Sir Patrick Allen, and former High Commissioner of  Trinadad and Tobago to Jamaica.

The St. Ann born artiste is also proud to be a humanitarian, a voice for the needy and one who loves to help across Jamaica.

Akeem's gold mine was scratched at church. His mother could sing and he was influenced by his uncle, Shawn Smith, who was noted for singing gospel.

Akeem also dived into the musical reservoir of Kenny Rogers and Beres Hammond. This led to his rich collection of songs for all seasons.

At Jamaica College Akeem entered On The Verge Talent contest claiming third place position.

It took him five Rising Stars auditions to get to the studio performance which led to over a million viewers glued to their television sets each week.

"Rising Stars was everything I had dreamt of, and it became a reality. And, I was always ready for the next stage," he mused.

He has several singles which are getting the love they deserve. These include "Too Good" produced by DJ Sparks from Zip 103 FM; "Nah Fail" produced by Worm Mystic Production, "How Will The Future Go" one of his latest on the Vikings Production imprint and "The Time Is Now" by Gold Cup Production, a production company out of France.

ShortBoss is presently managed by Vikings Production along with Loyal Flames and Jo Archer. Vikings Production over the years has produced a number of big riddims and is also the former manager of reggae artist Romain Virgo.

ShortBoss has performed mostly on cruise ships bringing joy, happiness and love to thousands of tourists who will always cherish his stardom for all the ears and years.
